Derry school bans use of app linked to cyber-bullying and asks pupils to remove it from all devices
A Derry school has banned the use of a new app linked to cyber-bullying and has asked all pupils to remove it from their devices.
St Mary's College made the decision following numerous reports of misuse of the app.
The chatbot app has been banned in the Republic of Ireland.
The app learns responses generated by any user when certain names or words are typed in.
A St Mary's College spokesperson said: "Further to news on SimSimi and concerns regarding cyber bullying, access to the website and use of the app have been blocked on all school devices.
"We are now asking pupils to remove the SimSimi app from all personal devices, especially mobile phones and tablets, immediately to protect themselves and stay safe online."
